Life Goes On

JENNIFER KELLY

Harper Lee, author of “To Kill a Mockingbird,” died Feb. 19, 2016, at the age of 93. While I knew her death was probably close and inevitable, it was hard for me.

I thought it only fitting I heard of her death from a former student. All that day, through texts, emails, phone calls, messages, and Facebook posts, people reached out to me because they knew her death would impact me. They stood in my shoes, my favorite theme of “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
