Spartan boys share North Division championship
They had to win four games in a row, but once they did the Spartan boys’ hoopsters were rewarded with a share of the WesCo 4A North Division championship with Snohomish after defeating Arlington 64-57 last Friday night. In the other two games played last week, the Sparts beat Marysville-Pilchuck 68-47 and co-titlists Snohomish 62-58. Full Story
Zach Schut district champ, Spartans fourth
Entering the district tournament with no less than 21 grapplers, Spartan wrestlers emerged with fourth place out of 11 Class 4A schools with 214 accumulated points over the two-day event.
Seven local individuals qualified for this coming weekend’s regional tourney to be held at Cavalero Mid High School in Lake Stevens after being among the top five finishers in each class. Full Story
Lady Sparts net first league title since 1997-98 campaign
Defense was the name of the game as the No. 3 stateranked Lady Spartans sewed up their first league championship in 14 seasons last week. Their 14-1 record in the Western Conference 4A North Division tied them with Lake Stevens for the title. Both accumulated a 19-1 overall mark as well. Full Story
Justin Murrell swims state qualifying time in 100 backstroke
Stanwood’s Spartan swim team joined three other area high schools at Mariner High’s pool for a make-up swim due to cancellations during January’s snow storm.
Joining the Sparts were Glacier Peak, Snohomish and Mariner. Full Story
