RONALD CHARLES HERBKERSMAN

September 15, 1941 - January 20, 2012

Ronald Charles Herbkersman, 70, the most loving and gentle man, passed away of cancer, Jan. 20, 2012, at his home in Stanwood surrounded by the warmth of his family.

Ron was born in Kalispell, Mont., Sept. 15, 1941, to Norman August Herbkersman and Pauline Elizabeth Putman.

He graduated from Columbia Falls High School and served in the Navy for four years. Then he worked for GTE for 28 years before retiring to his farm in Stanwood.

Ron belonged to the Skagit Sheriff's Posse for many years.

Later in life, he joined the Twin City Idlers while he restored his hot rod. Ron enjoyed snowmobiling, riding horses and working with his hands.

He leaves behind his wife, Vikki J. (Caling) of Stanwood, sister Norma J. Gregory of Missoula, Mont., daughters Melissa D. Sigears of Rochester, Wash., and Ronda C. Herbkersman of Rohnert Park, Calif., sister-in-law Pam Dixon of Bellingham and brother-in-law Denny Caling, and his wife, Jenny Sue of Charlestown, W. Va.

A gathering to celebrate Ron's life will be announced later.
