Board sets levy for April 17, committee needs help
The school board approved a new date for the district’s maintenance and operations levy. The same levy proposal that was approved in December has been rescheduled for the April 17 ballot.

Pharmaceutical companies lobby against proposed bill
If a small group of people have their way, the pharmaceutical industry will soon go the way of the electronic industry: prescription drug companies will adopt a stewardship program, in which manufacturers are responsible for the disposal of unused medication. Full Story
Heroin surfaces twice, drug paraphernalia, theft in city
Stanwood Police report the following activity last week:
• Police were called Jan. 21 to the 7100 block of Church Creek Loop for a possible overdose and a30- year-old Everett woman was referred for possession of heroin. Full Story
Stanwood Police Chief Ty Trenary will be leaving Stanwood.
Trenary was promoted the role of captain of Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office’s North Precinct, in Smokey Point. He will also oversee the east precinct.
Mayor Dianne White announced Trenary’s new position at Thursday’s city council meeting. Full Story
Snohomish Health District and its community partners will offer free vaccine (Tdap) to protect adults from pertussis, or whooping cough, at two sites Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The vaccinations will be available at Snohomish Health District, 3020 Rucker Ave., Everett, and Sea Mar Community Health Center, 9710 State Ave., Marysville. Full Story
