STANLEY A. MATTERAND

May 30, 1921 - November 5, 2010

Stanley Matterand, 89, of Stanwood, passed away Nov. 5, 2010.

Stanley was born on May 30, 1921 in Stanwood to Emil and Alma Matterand. He lived his entire life on the farm along the Stillaguamish River south of Stanwood.

Stanley was a farmer and drove school bus for the Stanwood School District in the 1940s and again in the 1970s.

He was a lifetime member of the Cedarhome Seventh Day Adventist Church where his father Emil was a charter member.

He was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Alma, and sisters Bernetta Matterand and Edith Braun.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hazel, whom he married Sept. 24, 1950 at the Cedarhome Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Together they raised two daughters Nina (Dennis) Molstad of Arlington, and Cheryl (Craig) Wagner, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

He is also survived by his five grandchildren Melissa Molstad, Jason Molstad, Julia Wagner, Christopher Wagner, Eric Wagner and four great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brianna, Wyatt and Izabella, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Stanley's life will begin 3 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 in the Cedarhome Seventh Day Adventist Church, Stanwood.

Donations in Stanley's memory can be made to Stanwood Historical Society or to Skagit Adventist Academy in Burlington.

Internment was held on Nov. 9, 2010 at the Loyal Heights Cemetery under the direction of Gilbertson's Funeral Home of Stanwood.
