Stanwood-Camano Fire Department’s technical rope rescue team spent last Tuesday honing their skills inside the water tower on Lincoln Hill.
Led by Bill Bothel, the team practiced rigging rescue gear and lowering a “victim” through the concrete shaft. Full Story

SnoCo updating shoreline regulations
New regulations for the development and use of shoreline property in Snohomish County are currently under discussion by the county council.
In accordance with new guidelines handed down by Washington state, the county is required to revise its Shoreline Management Program (SMP), first developed in 1974 as part of the Shoreline Management Act and last updated in 1993. Full Story
Laura Lewis qualifies for general election
A 30-year resident of Camano Island, Laura Lewis received enough write-in votes in the primary election to earn a spot on the Nov. 2 general election ballot.
State election rules require a write-in candidate garner 600 votes in the primary to appear on the general election ballot. According to Lewis, she received 933 votes. Full Story
