Intoxicated, uninsured, non-licensed drivers caught
• A deputy stopped a green 1992 Ford Explorer on Aug. 19, after observing it driving at night with only parking lights on, and weaving within its lane. The driver, a 29-year-old woman, said she didn’t realize her headlights weren’t on. She wasn’t able to produce proof of insurance, and displayed signs of possible intoxication. Full Story

Pray for peace
Nearly 30 congregations are teaming up for peace, in the Stanwood/Camano Ministerial Association’s 24-hour prayer vigil, starting a minute after midnight on Sept. 11 at Camano Lutheran Church.
Phil Lewis, a chaplain at Josephine’s care center, is seeking members of the community’s many congregations in all denominations to lead prayers during the 24-hour period. Full Story
Energy conservation grant awarded to Stanwood-Camano School District
The Stanwood-Camano School District has been awarded $664,000 for energy conservation. Presented by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction’s (OSPI) the district will match the grant with local funds and utility incentives to fund a $1,501,709 project at Stanwood Middle School.
