All was fine before house was built

Dear Editor:

Camano Islander Dale Smith said in his Aug. 20 letter, “All was fine before John Dean.” He reported that, before I was elected, his property taxes were half what they are today.

A check with the assessor’s office shows Dale failed to mention he owned vacant land before I was elected and then subsequently built a $426,000 home on the property.

Of course his property taxes about doubled. It was the new house that made the total property now worth about $600,000.

Somebody blow a whistle and cry “foul.”

John Dean Camano Island
