Last Wednesday afternoon, a small brushfire ignited approximately a quarter acre of vegetation in Heritage Park.
Craig Helgeland, assistant chief of Stanwood-Camano Fire and Rescue, said a landscaper working on the opposite side of the park noticed smoke about 30 minutes after hearing what he thought were fireworks, and dialed 9-1-1.
The fire was extinguished quickly, and the only damage was to vegetation.
Snohomish County Fire Marshal Bruce Pulver is investigating the incident.
There are no suspects.
