Steelheads merge with Tigersharks

The Steelhead Swim Team has merged with Tigersharks in Mukilteo.

The local swim team tried to find pool space nearby after the Team Fitness pool was closed in April. During the summer they used pools at Mount Vernon YMCA, Warm Beach Christian Camp and the Marysville- Pilchuck High School, but fall schedules did not permit their use, so the team had to be dissolved.

Camano Country Club provides space for practice several days a week, but that pool is not large enough for the number of competitive swimmers at the senior levels.

The primary goal of the team’s directors is to maintain a competitive swimming presence in the Stanwood-Camano community. Starting Sept. 7, practices will be offered at both the Camano Country Club and at Olympic View Middle School in Mukilteo. The directors will continue to support the Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation initiative to bring a YMCA to town.
