‘Chicago’ at Whidbey Playhouse
Tickets are now on sale for the Whidbey Playhouse production of the Tony and Academy Award winning musical “Chicago.” The hit of the 1997 Broadway season, “Chicago” won six Tony Awards and later the Academy Award as Best Picture of the Year.
A sharp-edged satire featuring a dazzling score and staging by Bob Fosse, “Chicago” is set in the roaring ‘20s, when Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover. Roxie and another “Merry Murderess”, Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of fame, fortune and acquittal. “Chicago” opens the 44th season of the playhouse on Sept. 10 at 730 S.E. Midway Blvd. in Oak Harbor, and closes Oct. 3. Tickets are $16 each, but groups of ten or more receive a $1 discount for each ticket. Show starts 7:30 p.m. for Thursday-Saturday, with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sundays. For information see www.whidbeyplayhouse.com, call 360-679-2237 or email at office@whidbeyplayhouse.com.
