Candidate owes residents an apology
Dear Editor:
Of all of the candidates running for office on Camano Island in the recent primary election, only one person, or her volunteers, repeatedly broke the law the past few weekends by placing hundreds of her campaign signs in the county’s right of way all over Camano Island as soon as the road shops closed on Friday, then retrieving them late on Sunday. Political signs at kid’s derby
Dear Editor:
The “well-positioned” John Koster sign on 276th Street where the Soap Box Derby runs, is on my property.
I’d like to clarify that John Koster did not install the sign on my property. To be neighborly I positioned it out of view of my Democrat neighbors so they would not have to look at it. Full Story
Car show
Thanks to all who helped
Dear Editor:
The car show at the Camano Senior and Community Center Aug. 14 was a huge success. We had 82 beautiful cars, 16 flea market vendors, great food, and with the 90- degree weather, the beer garden did a booming business.
The rock-n-roll music was fun, like a blast from the past. We had a golf cart shuttle for our visitors, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Full Story
Food bank
Volunteers needed
Dear Editor:
Times are tough right now and we know it can feel overwhelming. How will it end? What can we do? While some can give money, others may have time to volunteer.
The Stanwood-Camano Food Bank has been serving our area for more than 33 years. Full Story
Swimming
Steelhead Team is dissolved
Dear Editor:
Recently, the Steelhead Swim Team had no other choice than to disband their USA swim team that has served the Stanwood/Camano/ Arlington/Conway areas for many years. The main reason the swim team could not continue was due to closure of the Team Fitness pool.
This was the only 25-yard pool in the area. Full Story
OPEC oil
Not enough progress
Dear Editor:
While running for office, Barack Obama promised that if elected, he would get us off OPEC oil within 10 years.
Two years are gone and we still don’t have a plan.
In fact, there is some evidence that we’re going in the wrong direction. Full Story
Parade
Entries made spectators happy
Dear Editor:
The Stanwood-Camano Parade was so good. The first float said Jesus Christ heals, and that is so true. Jesus Christ saves, heals and satisfies. The cutest of all was a little pony with a doggie riding on its back.
God our Father made animals, trees, flowers, grass and so many things for human beings to enjoy. We live in a beautiful world. Full Story
