Steps taken to rebuild playground
Scorched fittings and melted plastic from the playground structure fire at Lake Goodwin Community Park have been cleared out. A temporary fence still surrounds the play area filled with fresh bark.

Former SnoCo official pleads guilty
Former Snohomish County planning and development director Craig Ladiser pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges in King County Superior Court for drunkenly exposing himself and rubbing his genitals on a woman’s leg during a golf tournament in June 2009. Full Story

Water, sewer rate study under way
Karen Johnson, of FCS Group, presented Stanwood City Council with an overview of a water and sewer rate study, which her team will conduct over the next two months, at last Thursday’s meeting.
The study’s findings will be used to calculate future water and sewer rates, as well as various fees and utility taxes. Full Story
One Supreme Court position decided and one to go
Supreme Court Justice Jim Johnson swept the state to retain his Position 1 seat for a second term.
The conservative incumbent received more than half of the primary election votes over the liberal backed challenger Stan Rumbaugh in every county.
In doing so, Johnson will continue to the general election without opposition. Full Story
State Library’s Ask- WA app now available
Smart phone users can now install a new app featuring the Washington State Library’s Ask-WA virtual reference service.
“This is the first app of its kind in America in terms of ‘mobilizing’ an entire statewide virtual reference service,” said Ahniwa Ferrari, the Washington state library’s online resources consultant for library development. Full Story
