MARGARET ADA PATRIZZI

1922-2010

Margaret Ada Patrizzi passed away with peace and grace on this sunny August 4, 2010, morning.

Born in 1922 in Tekoa, Wash., her mother, Estella (nee Rowland) Middaugh, died in childbirth.

Margaret's grandmother, Isa Dora, asked the attending doctor about the baby, and when the doctor replied there was no hope, Isa Dora said, “Give her to me.” Isa Dora took the infant Margaret home, wrapped her in a shoebox by the wood stove and fed her with an eyedropper.

In 1939 in Port Angeles, while she was roller-skating and took a tumble, Margaret was helped up by a handsome stranger, Louis J. Patrizzi, who would become the love of her life.

They were married for 69 years, until Louie's passing in May 2009. True pioneers, they built a life together in Port Angeles, full of love, family, friends, and adventure.

Margaret was always actively by Louie's side in everything, from square dancing or learning to snow ski in her 30s (plus 20 years on the ski patrol) to 200-mile motorcycle trips (in one day!) in their 50's. Trailer clubs brought many dear friends and travels from Alaska to Mexico, from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic.

Active in Eastern Star and P.E.O., Margaret also had a life-long dedication to the First Baptist Church in Port Angeles. She was a prolific gardener, so talented at knitting , crocheting and sewing, and later she loved her crafts. She was a crafter before the word was invented. She could really make something beautiful from seemingly nothing at all. Her birth, her bouts with breast cancer, the heart of the World War II generation, Margaret's legacy is survival with the greatest integrity.

She will be remembered for her undying devotion to Louie and their family, her extreme understanding and forgiveness, and most of all her loving patience. Margaret was the best wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, and friend that anyone could be.

Margaret is survived by her two loving daughters and sons-inlaw, Jeannette and Gary Axtell and Mary Patrizzi and Michael Chamberlin; four grandd

g daughters, Shelli Morris and husband, Steven, Gina Engle and husband Aaron, Erin Chamberlin, Kali Chamberlin; and three great-grandchildren, Abbi, Emmett and Aidric.

Cards and prayers can be sent directly to Jeannette Axtell, at 14429 56th Ave. NW, Stanwood or Mary Patrizzi, 14921 56th Ave. NW, Stanwood, WA 98292, or through the First Baptist Church, Port Angeles, Wash.

Please send any memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society.

At Margaret's request, there will be no public services. Private burial was held in the Anderson Cemetery, Stanwood.

Under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home.
