County awarded federal funds to assist homeless
Snohomish County’s Human Services Department was awarded funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for a new homeless assistance project.
The new project award of $175,171 follows the county’s recent distribution of $1.3 million in federal funding for 13 projects geared toward ending homelessness. Full Story
IRS relief program for small charities
Small nonprofit organizations at risk of losing their tax-exempt status because they failed to file required returns for 2007, 2008 and 2009 can preserve their status by filing returns by Oct. 15, under a one-time relief program, the Internal Revenue Service announced recently. Full Story
