New bridge stamp dated, opens Friday
WSDOT is, apparently, not very superstitious.
The new bridge is scheduled to open to traffic on Friday, Aug. 13, baring any obstructions, said Dave Chesson, spokesman for Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
Not that they have a reason to be superstitious — the entire project has gone smoothly and efficiently, Chesson said. Full Story

Murray looks to fend off 14 for U.S. Senate
Democratic U.S. Senator Patty Murray, the first woman to serve Washington state in the U.S. Senate, is continuing her bid for another sixyear term.
Three Republican candidates are gaining momentum and have placed themselves atop the pack of 14 challengers for the position, according to Rasmussen Reports, an electronic media company specializing in public polling information. Full Story
Alternative choices in school district
A change to Lincoln Hill High School’s (LHHS) online program is panning out.
Dan Johnston, principal of LHHS, said the required onehour lab time per week for students enrolled in the online program has increased course-completion rates.
“It’s a big plus to our program,” he said during a presentation to the board of directors last Tuesday. Full Story
