Ground broke at high noon Friday to make way for a new kind of apartment complex in Stanwood, at the corner of 72nd Avenue NW and 272nd Street.
Sponsored by Housing Hope, and four years in the making, the 24-unit complex will be named Lincoln Hill Apartments and will have five apartments dedicated to the homeless.

North County EMS seeks levy renewal
North County Regional Fire Authority will seek an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) levy renewal on the August 17 ballot for voters in the Warm Beach, Freeborn and Bryant communities.
EMS levies are capped at $0.50 per $1,000 of assessed value, and are only good for six years, said Chief Dale Fulfs. Full Story

Tom Riggs, a Democrat from Camano Island, is challenging four-term Republican incumbent Barbara Bailey for State Representative, 10th Legislative District, Position 2.
