Western kids camp offers cultural experience

Western Washington University’s Western Kids Camp, for students entering grades K-6, is a weekly theme-inspired day camp offering a balance of academic enrichment and interactive recreation. During the upcoming weeks, participants will have a cultural experience when a group of South Korean students in grades 4, 5 and 6 at JLS Academy in Richmond, B.C., will attend camp. This is a unique opportunity for your child to learn, have fun, and gain a rich cultural experience. The cost of the trips is being picked up by JLS Academy, so there is no additional cost.

The weekly themes are “Birds Eye View: Microscopic World,” July 26-30 with field trip to Birch Bay Water Slides, July 29; “History & Mystery of Bellingham,” Aug. 2-6 with field trip to Burke Museum and GameWorks, Aug. 4; “Parades & Festivals” Aug. 9- 13, with field trip to Woodland Park Zoo, Aug. 13.

Western Kids Camp offers a free and convenient 20-minute drop off and pick up parking permit, and the weekly day camp qualifies for child care tax benefits. Registration details are on the Web at www. wwu.edu/youth, e-mail to youth@wwu.edu, or phone 360-650-3308.
