Pig roast open to the public Saturday

Camano Island Yacht Club will hold a pig roast, open to the public, Sat., July 31, 2-6 p.m. at the club, 129 N. Sunset Drive, Camano Island. Tickets are now available at Camano Marine and Elger Bay Grocery & Gift store, or by calling Sam, 387-4030, or Claudia, 387-9656.

Grand re-opening of Camano Plaza

Tues., July 27, Camano Plaza IGA will host a grand re-opening event of their recently-renovated store. From 6-8 p.m., the open house will showcase the store’s recent updates; meet the staff and partake of food and beverage samples. Highlights from the store’s renovation include: remodeled produce department, deli and bakery; fresh paint throughout the store, addition of bulk product department and Camano Island Coffee Roasters.

KidsFest celebrated Saturday at IGA

On Saturday, July 31, the Camano Plaza IGA will host KidsFest, a family-fun event to celebrate summer. From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., the store will feature a Bouncy House for children, face painter and treats like shaved ice and cotton candy. There will be plenty of visuals as local children play, and store representatives will serve up treats to attendees.

Donations now accepted for fall auction

Donations for the Island Gala auction in September are now being accepted by the Camano Senior and Community Center. The auction will benefit the center, phone 387-0222. Theme this year is “vintage Hollywood glamour.” Tickets will be available Sept 1. Sponsoring the event: Whidbey Island Bank, Camano Island Coffee Roasters, Tulalip Resort Casino, Thomas & Associates, Merrill Gardens, Mark’s Camano Pharmacy, Karen’s Kitchen and Gifts, Waste Management and Skagit Valley Hospital.

Free women’s exercise at chapel Free women’s exercise classes are in Camano Chapel gym Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 9 a.m. Walking aerobics are with video instructor Leslie Sansone. Camano Chapel is located at 867 S. West Camano Drive. For more information, call Kathy Harrison, 387-7202.

Beat the heat at Camano Library

Activities, games and craft ideas that will keep you cool all summer long are set for Wed., July 28, 11 a.m. at the Camano Island Library Pilot Project. This is a school age program and no registration is required.

F ree quilt show Cama Beach State Park

Sat, July 31, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be the free showing of some of the 135 quilts made by Cama Beach Quilters for the cabins at Cama Beach State Park. Over 50 colorful quilts will be hanging.

Vendors needed for holiday bazaar

Camano Country Club needs vendors for the 2010 holiday bazaar in November, with deadline for signing up Oct. 28. Call the club, 387-7957 or Sally, 387-9693. Vendor table application forms are available online: camanocountryclub.com.

Still time to sign up for car show

Camano Senior and Community Center’s annual collectors’ car show and flea market is Sat, Aug. 14, and all classic car owners are invited to register for the event, featuring Walt’s Pork Butt BBQ, Diamond Knot beer garden, Rockaway Beach Band and a flea market. Register your classic cars at the center, call Joyce or Karla with questions, 387-0222. The center is located at 606 Arrowhead Road.
