ROBERT L . DILLE
June 21, 1933 - June 25, 2010
Robert L. Dille, 77, of Stanwood, passed away Friday, June 25, 2010 in Stanwood, following a long illness.
According to his wishes, there was no funeral or visitation.
He is survived by his brother, George Dille, and wife, Estella of Moab, Utah; their children, Deborah of Moab, Dalice and Dori of California, David and Duane of Colorado, and Darci of Washington; son Steve Carpenter (Mary Magner) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a stepgranddaughter, Kym (Mike), of St. Clair, Minn., and children Tasha and Kamren of Camano Island. He also leaves behind many step-grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren in Iowa and Texas; his beloved cat Smokey; devoted friend Marlene Kennedy and many other friends from the Camano Island area and the Josephine care center community.
Robert Dille was born in Palisade, Colorado on June 21, 1933. Following high school he worked on area ranches, then served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He later relocated to rural Moab and worked in area mining operations. He lived in Moab for more than 20 years before living the remainder of his life in Stanwood/Camano Island.
He was a caring father, grandfather and greatgrandfather who found ways to help and encourage those around him.
He will be remembered as a gentle person who enjoyed nature, especially the desert landscapes of the American West. His Josephine friends recall Robert's many card parties and the unique pancakes he would often make for everyone.
The family thanks the hospice volunteers who made Robert's final days as comfortable as possible. Family and friends will carry out Robert Dille's final wish this fall, when they scatter his ashes in the Utah desert.
