CWB award
The Center for Wooden Boats (CWB), a hands-on maritime museum and sailing activity center at Cama Beach on Camano Island and on South Lake Union in Seattle, has been selected “outstanding year-round program” for 2009 by the United States Sailing Association (US Sailing) Community Sailing Council.

A memorable midnight snack
Back in March, a package of bacon showed up in the Island County blotter. It had been chewed on, and one corner was charred. It was discovered in a burglarized garage.

Fires on the Fourth
Fourth of July festivities kept Camano Island Fire and Rescue hopping, even with extra resources on hand.

Cemex provided the lowest bid of $429,000 to place hot mix asphalt, or HMA on Camano Island roads, and they plan to begin work on the third week of July and hope to finish 23 road segments in about two weeks, weather permitting. Full Story
