Join the race (L to R) Lawrence Baum, Michael Scott, Alex Keller and Blake Nicholas, Matt Nesheim and Nick Barry took part in the first annual Camano Cup Regatta hosted by Camano Sail and Power, LLC last Sunday. Sailors with a small daggerboard or centerboard sailboat are invited to participate in these free races throughout the summer. Skippers meet at 11:30 a.m. with the first race at noon sharp. The races will be Sat, July 3; Sun, July 18; Sat, July 31; Sun, Aug. 22; Sat, Aug. 28; Sun, Sept. 5; Sun, Sept. 19 and the final race and party of the summer season on Sun, Sept. 26. Line dancing lessons for all
Line dancing begins 6 p.m. Tues., July 6, and runs four weeks at Camano Country Club, 1243 S. Beach Drive. Beginners and intermediate dancers welcome to try Latin, oldies, pop, Irish, rap, country and more.
Pirates Ahoy at Camano Library
Children and families are invited learn all about being a pirate in a marionette variety show at the Camano Island Library Pilot Project, Wed., July 7, 11 a.m. No registration is required. Funded by the Camano Island Library Friends and Sno-Isle Foundation.
Fun events at Cama Beach
Learn about worm bins at the “Worm Squirm” family art activity at 1 p.m. Wed., July 7. Shuttle tours around the park are offered that day, starting at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. music by Ronnda Cadle is at Music in the Boathouse.

Knitters gather for potluck picnic

Island Democrats welcome John Dean
Island County Commissioner John Dean, will talk about the current state of the county at the next Camano Island Democrats meeting 7 p.m. Wed., July 14. He’ll discuss how a vocal minority is trying to undermine local government, how Camano Islanders can better add their voice to local government, and the primary election levy lid lift proposition. Island County candidates will be introduced: Paul Thompson (Coroner), Patricia Terry (Clerk) and Debra Van Pelt (Clerk), at the Camano Multipurpose Building, 141 East Camano Drive.

Camano Chamber Golf Tournament
The Camano Island Chamber Golf Tournament is Sat., July 17 with an 8 a.m. registration, 9 a.m. shotgun start, lots of events and prizes plus raffle items. At Camano Chapel Summer Camps, Junior Camp for fourththrough eighth- graders is July 14-18. Junior High Camp for sixth- to ninth-graders is August 9-14. Seeking vendors for Artists Yard Sale
The fourth annual Artists Yard Sale is set for July 30 – Aug. 1, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., at Camano Plaza, Building C-102, sponsored by the artists of Seagrass Gallery. This year the sale is open to all who have art to sell or recycle, or anyone who wants to clean out the hall closet. Table fee is $25 for one day or for all three days. Fees will benefit a scholarship, Fund for Aspiring Young Artists. The sale offers anything once belonging to an artist, including art, supplies and equipment. Dancin’ at the Grange on third Friday
Always on the thrd Friday of the Month, Dancing at the Grange on Friday, July 16 starts with pre-dance lessons at 7:30 p.m. followed by general dancing from 8:15 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Mix of swing, ballroom, Latin, and country swing, two-step, rumba, cha cha, or just “Move Your Body to the Music. Summer outdoor cinema is now open
The eighth annual Camano Island free summer outdoor cinema offers the best in classic repertory cinema every Friday through Sept. 24 at the corner of East Camano Drive and Dallman Road. Movies are free, but donations will be accepted to cover costs and for film preservation. In case of rain, the show goes on in the circus tent. Most shows are appropriate for families but parents are advised to check the schedule at chumleigh.com. Gates open at 7:45 p.m., movies start at dusk. Pancake breakfast set for July 18
Camano Country Club Clubhouse will serve a pancake breakfast with eggs, choice bacon, sausage or corned beef hash, coffee and juice for $8 adults and $4 for kids age 11 and younger at 1243 Beach Drive, Camano Island on the third Sunday each month this summer through October.
Pig roast at yacht club
