School board approves renaming high school stadium: Bob Larson
With his family in attendance, the Stanwood-Camano School District board of directors voted unanimously last Tuesday to re-name the Stanwood High School stadium Bob Larson Stadium in honor of the former superintendent of schools who spearheaded the campaign to secure a federal grant to build the facility back in 1976. Coach Knutson hands out awards to baseball team
Stanwood High School’s head baseball coach Colby Knutson honored members of his 2010 baseball team with a banquet recently.
Senior shortstop Chad Murdock was chosen to receive the Most Valuable Player Award.
Most Inspirational was another senior, Michael Mc- Cune.
The Spartan Award went to Mark Pelham while the Most Improved Award went to Andrew Bloom. Full Story
Five Lady Spartans earn 2010 golf letters
Madison Soth and Devyn Bell received their second letters in girls’ golf from head coach Dennis Kloke at a end-ofyear banquet.
Fellow linksters Leslie Lawrence, Kelsie Anderson and Jade Borseth each took home their first varsity letters in the spring sport.
High medalist honors went to Jade Borseth while the Captain’s Award was earned by Madison Soth. Full Story

Emblematic of the tremendous leadership they’ve demonstrated over the years, no less than six seniors received their fourth track and field letters at the team’s post-season celebration. Full Story
Senior track trio earns fourth track and field letters
Nine Spartan boys received special recognition at the annual track and field awards banquet earlier this month.
Michael Randall, Kale Schmidt and Robert Hanke each received his fourth track letter and then the latter pair received further accolades with Schmidt being honored as the boys’ captain and Hanke being given the Giant Shoe Award. Full Story
Camaloch junior golf results of 2010 season
The Camaloch Junior Golf Program concluded June 7 with a field day for all ages.
This was the fifth Tuesday of the program for 65 boys and girls ages 10-17.
Awards were given for three age levels, 10-11, 12- 13 and 14-17.
Participants competed on four Tuesdays in putting and course play and on the fifth Tuesday, all students competed in the field day. Full Story
