Island County Democrats SummerFest

Bring friends and neighbors to enjoy a SummerFest benefit for Island County Democrats Sat, July 17, 3-7 p.m., at the home of Grethe Cammermeyer and Diane Divelbess, 4632 Tompkins Road in Langley. The Board of County Commissioners will hold a public forum Tues, June 22, 6 p.m. at the Camano Senior and Community Center.

Movie to benefit campaign fund

Sat, June 26, “Thank You for Smoking” will be shown 6:30-9 p.m., at Lost Lake Clubhouse, 1469 Lake Drive on Camano, with proceeds to benefit the campaign to elect Kelly Emerson, Island County Commissioner Dist. 3. This satirical comedy, follows the antics of big tobacco’s chief spokesman, Nick Naylor, who spins on behalf of cigarettes while trying to remain a role model for his 12-year-old son.

‘Fishy’ program at Camano Library

Children and families are invited to a ‘Dip’n in the Ocean: Stories and Song’ Wed, June 30, 11 a.m. at the Camano Island Library Pilot Project. This school age program will even have a fishy craft or two. No registration is required.

Life Line Screening next Wednesday

Island Baptist Church will host Life Line Screening Wed, June 30, with appointments beginning at 9 a.m., at 147 Woodland Drive on Camano Island. All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete and there is a cost. Grange breakfast open to public

South Camano Grange will have a pancake breakfast Sat, June 26, 8-11 a.m. Pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, ham and sausage, orange juice and coffee are on the menu. For information on membership in the Grange, or directions, call Pat, 629-3276.

Get a box lunch during garden tour

The Mabana Flames will be selling box lunches during the third annual Camano Island Backyard Wildlife Habitat garden tour Sat, June 26. This will help support volunteer firefighters; get the lunches at Mabana Fire Station.

Prepare now for car show, fleas

Camano Senior and Community Center’s annual collectors car show and flea market is Aug. 14, featuring Walt’s Pork Butt barbecue, Diamond Knott beer garden, Rockaway Beach Band and a flea market. High school camp registration deadline

Camano Chapel Summer Breeze 2010 High School Camp, Aug. 2 – 7, for students entering grades 9-12, and new grads. There is a registration fee. Activities include jet skis, waterskiing, wakeboarding, river rafting, volleyball tournaments, games, live band and speaker, Brett Reid. Register and pay by July 20 to attend. Deception Pass Bridge celebrates it 75th anniversary July 31, and vendors and display booths that would be appropriate in the park setting, are wanted. Vacation Bible School all this week
