In favor of Van Pelt for county clerk
Dear Editor:
As this campaign season gains momentum and candidates throw their hats in the ring, I am particularly interested in the race for county clerk.
Since I worked in the clerk’s office for 22 years and was then elected as county clerk for two terms, I believe my background qualifies me to recognize the most qualified person for this office. Full Story
Art show
Labels much too small and low for seniors
Dear Editor:
I was a guest at the recent opening of the Stanwood-Camano Arts Guild 8th Annual Spring Art Show at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center.
The exhibited works of art were a fine representation of our local artists and were well displayed. Full Story
Reading in school
What does the future hold for our school library
Dear Editor:
I would like to thank the past and present members of Port Susan Middle School PTA for supporting our school library.
It is because of their fundraising efforts and investment in providing the Accelerated Reader program for our students and teachers that I can brag that I teach at a “reading school.” Full Story
Thanks
To all who helped build the playground
Dear Editor:

We had more than 1,000 volunteers come out to work with their neighbors, to saw, paint, swing a hammer, drive screws and push a wheelbarrow. Full Story
Open letter
To Colton Harris-Moore
Dear Editor:
Hello Colton,
You’re the reason I now have a very expensive alarm system.
You tried to break into my home twice.
Two of my neighbors’ cars have been burglarized since you have been back.
My friend’s house was burgled by you just this week. Smashed in the window. Stole who knows what. Full Story
Found dog
No excuse to dump dogs
Dear Editor:
Would you please do an article about it being illegal to dump dogs.
My husband went to the state park to run his dog and someone had dumped a puppy there. They locked him in the bathroom and he was so scared and crying like crazy.
Now we have the pup and we do think he is the best ever, but how cruel to do what these people did. Full Story
