LHHS grads hurdle challenges in stride
The graduating class of 2010 from Lincoln Hill High School (LHHS) stood tall on Monday night as Principal Dan Johnston praised them for overcoming obstacles.

$50,000 not enough
Last Tuesday came and went in much the usual fashion, including no sign of Colton Harris-Moore, who did not turn himself in and did not collect $50,000.

Two arrested for ramming truck into train
Two young men have been arrested on felony charges for sending a stolen truck on a collision course with a northbound freight train near Stanwood in January.
The men, ages 18 and 21, are from the Arlington and Stanwood areas, said Gus Melonas, spokesman for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF). Full Story
New SnoCo deputy executive
Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon has selected Edmonds Mayor Gary Haakenson as his new deputy executive.
Haakenson, a Northwest native, has served as Edmonds mayor for the past 11 years.
Reardon called Haakenson a proven administrator who brings a mix of successful business and government experience to the position. Full Story
SnoCo taxes mailed this week
New property tax assessment notices will be mailed to residential property owners this week and to commercially zoned property owners on the week of June 21.
The new assessed values should reflect the market value of each property as of Jan. 1, 2010, and will be used to determine each property owner’s share of property taxes due in 2011. Full Story

Resurfacing program targets 109 miles of roadways
Snohomish County has announced its annual roadresurfacing program will resurface 109 miles of county roadways this season.
Overlay work is now being done in the southern portions of the county, and will begin in the north by the end of July with all chip seal work completed by the end of August or early September. Full Story
