Check in, check out: Librarian position eliminated at middle schools
Something may be missing from the middle school libraries in the Stanwood-Camano School District next year: a librarian.
Lori Woodward, Port Susan Middle School librarian, and Sara Harlan, Stanwood Middle School librarian, have been shifted into classroom teaching positions.
Harlan said she made it clear to the district she wanted to make the transition. Full Story

25 years later, a mom waits with optimism
Barbara Giddens gave up on religion after her daughter, Tina Stensaa, was murdered.
“I was raised in the Baptist Church,” she said. “My mother always told me, ‘God will never give you more than you can handle.’”

Everett taxpayers to pay for officer Meade’s defense
After Everett police officer Troy Meade was acquitted of murder and manslaughter charges in April for the lineof duty fatal shooting of Stanwood resident Niles Meservey last June, the same jury denied the officer restitution for legal expenses under the civil ruling matter.
Now, Everett officials have determined under law, the city is required to pay the bill. Full Story
