Something may be missing from the middle school libraries in the Stanwood-Camano School District next year: a librarian.
Lori Woodward, Port Susan Middle School librarian, and Sara Harlan, Stanwood Middle School librarian, have been shifted into classroom teaching positions.
Harlan said she made it clear to the district she wanted to make the transition. Full Story

25 years later, a mom waits with optimism
Barbara Giddens gave up on religion after her daughter, Tina Stensaa, was murdered.
“I was raised in the Baptist Church,” she said. “My mother always told me, ‘God will never give you more than you can handle.’”

Aiden Branson Alvarado
Dec. 23, 2009 – June 3, 2010
Aiden Branson Alvarado was born on December 23, 2009, with an extremely rare cancer called infantile fibrosarcoma. Although Aiden underwent very intense chemotherapy, his cancer was too aggressive. While his loving mom held him and with his dad at his side, Aiden passed away in his sleep on June 3, 2010. Full Story

Darrell Griffith Emnott was born in Seattle on September 29, 1936. He passed away at home on June 5, 2010 after battling cancer for 13 years.
