Verma sets new long-distance standards
Not willing to settle for the glory of finishing 1-2-3 in two different district races, Lady Spartan distance racers Natasha Verma, Jordin Stephenson and Minna Fields continued their exploits at the state level during Star Track XXVIII. Hanke 2nd in state hurdles, Schmidt 4th in long jump
Seniors Robert Hanke and Kale Schmidt led a contingent of four Spartan boys to the state track and field meet (Star Track XXVIII) and placed high in their respective events.
Hanke took second place in the 300 intermediate hurdles to Wes Bailey of Mead (Spokane) in a Stanwood High record time of 38.50 seconds. Full Story
Megan LaLone propels herself to runner-up
With her second-place finish at the Class 4A tournament, Lady Spartan Megan LaLone became highest-placing singles tennis player in Stanwood High School history. Full Story
Lady Spartan fastpitch team eliminated from state tourney
After splitting the first two games of the state tournament, the Lady Spartan fastpitch nine fell to Rogers of Puyallup 3-2 in a game shortened by newly implemented rules that came about due to having rain wipe out the tourney’s entire first two rounds of play the day before.
That second loss eliminated the Sparts from state play after three games. Full Story
