CARE recesses for the summer
Camano Action for A Rural Environment will have its last regular meeting before their summer hiatus, June 17, 7 p.m., at the Terry’s Corner Windemere office, corner of Sunrise and SR 532/East Camano Drive. Plans will be finalizing for the upcoming Sept 11 Camano Honors Earth event, and updates on Island County land use. No general meetings will be held July and August. CASA car wash benefits animals
The CASA car wash will be held Sat, June 12, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Camano Plaza parking lot. Bring your car to be washed and support CASA, Camano Animal Shelter Association. All proceeds benefit the local animal shelter.
Nature program at park about ospreys
Sat, June 12, in the Camano Island State Park amphitheater, Bill Lider will explain about ospreys and what the Pilchuck Audubon Society has been doing to help restore their nesting opportunities in Port Gardner Bay. Yacht club invites public to breakfast
The Camano Island Yacht Club, 129 N. Sunset Drive will hold it’s monthly brunch, Sun, June 13, 9 a.m. to noon. Menu includes eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, fresh fruits, juices, pastries, coffee and tea. This month’s special is omelets to order.

Friends of Camano Island Parks volunteers will be hosting a work party at Camano Island state parks next week. Meet at 9:30 a.m. Tues, June 15, at Camano Island State Park ranger station. Training for homeowners’ water systems
Wed, June 9, Island County director of environmental health Aaron Henderson will discuss environmental health topics, including new information on septic inspections, and the program to train homeowners to inspect their own systems. The 7 p.m. program at the blue Camano Multipurpose Building will also include a talk about Camano water. Several public water systems on North Camano have been experiencing drops in the level of their aquifers. All are welcome. Sponsored by the Camano Island Democrats.
Camano artist in clay show
Stanwood artist Marquerite Goff is part of the Cascade Clay Artists’ exhibit “Clay, Fire and Form,” which is showing at the Gallery at the Depot, 6th and R streets in Anacortes through June 26.

School sets ‘end of the year’ party
Elger Bay Elementary PTA is hosting an end of the year party and a community garage sale Sat, June 12, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items will not be priced, “so come make an offer!” say organizers. While parents shop at the garage sale, children can purchase tickets to play carnival games. There will be hot dogs, chips and soda available. All proceeds will benefit the PTA.
