Volunteers build park
Dear Editor:
This past week I have been driving back and forth past the construction area for the new park – The Rotary Adventure Playground – at Terry’s Corner.
I have been amazed at the numbers of volunteers who were there every day, rain or shine. To see it transform from an unused field to a child’s dream has been wonderful. Full Story
Environment
‘Failure to act is no longer an option’
Dear Editor:
Given its enormity, the environmental disaster unfolding in the gulf should be the last one of its kind. While official estimates place the oil “leak” at 5,000 barrels a day, more sobering analyses place it at 100,000 barrels a day, making it an oil “volcano” with no end in sight. Full Story
Book store
It’s what I love about this town
Dear Editor:
I frequent the Snow Goose Bookstore often and saw there was a book signing May 20, and despite my overbooked schedule, I made a point to be there.

Dear Editor:
I’d like to thank the community for its support in the Cancer Prevention Study 3 (CPS-3) enrollment at Relay for Life.
We had a goal of 192 people and we enrolled 194. Full Story
Athletic club
Community should acquire and run it
Dear Editor:
Such an important, perhaps essential, community center in every sense of the word is certainly worth the community’s effort to save and restore it, and it’s clear by the recent Camano park that the community could do it. Full Story
In the gulf
Drilling must continue
Dear Editor:
The president has ordered a six-month hold on drilling in the gulf of Mexico.
The gulf has just emerged as the best answer to the need to get the U.S. off foreign oil. The oil industry and its drilling is the largest industry in the gulf. Full Story
