22nd at nationals


The Stanwood High School Science Team placed 22nd out of 60 teams at the National Science Olympiad Tournament at the University of Illinois in Urbana/ Champagne. The top teams were: Jimmy Besancon and Derek Britain, sixth place in Mission Possible and ninth place in Mouse Trap Vehicle; April Thayer and Kory Pattison, sixth place in Trajectory and 12th place in Bottle Rocket; Derek Britain and Max Osnes, 10th place in Remote Sensing; Jimmy Besancon and Heather Biehl, 11th place in Physics Lab; Derek Britain and April Thayer, 11th place in Elevated Bridge; Alec Parker and Kyle Blackburn, 13th place in Forensics; Jimmy Besancon and Harley Weaver, 18th place in Fossils. “The science team is appreciative for the tremendous support they have received from the community and the school district,” said Susan Britain, co-coach The Stanwood High School Science Team placed 22nd out of 60 teams at the National Science Olympiad Tournament at the University of Illinois in Urbana/ Champagne.
