Fill the boot

Camano Island Fire Chief Mike Ganz presents Cameron Smith, of Camano Island, with the first donation to the firefighter’s sixth annual “Fill the Boot” fundraiser, which benefits patients with muscular dystrophy. “Last year we raised $3,000,” said A.J. Johnson, with Stanwood-Camano Fire and Rescue. “This year our goal is $5,000.” All money raised benefits the area it was collected, with 100 percent of the proceeds funding local research and clinical studies, as well as paying for patients’ trips to various camps and activities.
