A new postmaster in Stanwood
By JEREMIAH O’HAGAN Staff Reporter
Stanwood’s new postmaster hails from — well, quite a few places, actually.
Neva Simons, who replaced Scott Harsh last month, has worked in Everett, the San Juan Islands and Mount Vernon in her 28 years with the postal service. She’s served as a clerk, a city carrier, and a supervisor at the Everett processing plant.
Simons was postmaster in the San Juan Islands, where she said she enjoyed the sense of community. Before coming to Stanwood, she worked in Mount Vernon as a supervisor.
“I like the opportunity the postal service has given me, to do different things and serve in different positions and offices,” Simons said. Simons has two daughters and three grandchildren, two young boys and an infant granddaughter.
In her spare time, Simons said, she spends time with her family and enjoys flower gardening.
She said her big goal is to keep things running smoothly at her newest post.
