New traffic lights coming to 72nd Avenue
By JEREMIAH O’HAGAN Staff Reporter
In response to readers’
requests, the
NEWS will run weekly updates on
the General Mark Clark
Bridge project on Camano
Island and the SR532 corridor
project in Stanwood.
This week, new traffic lights are being installed at the intersection of SR 532 and 72nd Avenue NW.
This work will require crews to set up a nightly detour around a closed portion of 72nd Avenue NW, between SR 532 and 272nd Street NW. They will also have to alternate traffic through the intersection on SR 532 at night.
The new traffic lights should be turned on Thursday night.
Clearing and grading continues near the intersection of SR 532 and Pioneer Highway, too. This work requires crews to continue alternating traffic through the intersection at night.
The westbound acceleration lane near Lenz Trucking, at 52nd Avenue NW, is ready to be striped. Weather permitting, the project will be completed this week, and will require some lane closures at night.
The past few days, crews have also installed conduit at the 84th Street overpass and repaired cracks in the roadway near 98th Avenue NW, by Jimmy’s Pizza and Pasta, and near 88th Avenue NW, by Viking Village Shopping Center.
