Last year’s winner returns to Spring Art Show
“Koi III” by Molly LeMaster of Camano Island will be included in the upcoming 8th annual show presented by the Stanwood-Camano Arts Guild June 4–6 at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center.
The 2009 winner of both the best in show award and the people’s choice award, Molly LeMaster uses watercolors because she loves the transparency of the colors. “Color has always fascinated me,” LeMaster said.
“Frequently I apply as many as 20 glazes of color on one piece, allowing each layer to dry before applying another layer. Mixing the color feels like magic to me. So, while my subjects may vary greatly, detail and color are always present. Nature, I suppose, is what inspires me the most.”
This year’s show is located for the third time at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center, 27130 102nd Ave. NW, in the west end of Stanwood. The show opens with a patrons’ party 6-9 p.m. June 4, with flute music provided by Paul Ny- enhuis on his hand carved flutes, and hors d’oeuvres and refreshments with a nohost wine bar. Advance tickets for the party are available for $5 at Gallery by the Bay and $8 at the door.
Admission is free 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 5 and 6,
The Stanwood-Camano Arts Guild thanks its sponsors, AAA Camano Heated Storage and RE/MAX Associate Brokers of Camano Island and Stanwood.
