Christian Motorcyclists ride for missions

The team also presented seven other motorcycles to native pastors, who often walk miles between the villages they serve. Christian Motorcylists Association, of which the Bachs are members, supports three international ministries. Every year, Morning Star Riders, the local CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association) Chapter, does an annual fundraiser as they ride through the community, “Run for the Son (RFS),” raising money to benefit the CMA ministry and missions in the U.S. and worldwide. CMA chapters across the nation schedule rides May 1. In addition, CMA supports three international ministry partners: the Jesus Film Project, Open Doors, and Missionary Ventures International. Last year, each of these ministries received a check for more than $850,000 from CMA National.

“Run for the Son” riders ask sponsors (friends, family, churches) to support them in this 100-mile ride, with donations at the giver’s chosen level.

“You may still give towards this mission work if you are so led, even though Run for the Son is over for this year,” said Jean and Larry Bach of Camano Island, members of CMA. “Those wanting to write a check to Christian Motorcyclists Association will be eligible to receive a charitable tax deduction. Donations will apply toward the 2011 Run for the Son event.” If you would like to help in this effort, we would very much appreciate your gift. And we also solicit your prayers for safety for all involved.”

Mail checks to Christian Motorcyclists Association, Run for the Son 2011, PO Box 9, Hatfield, AR 71945, or call the Bachs, 387-0680, for details.

The Bachs saw for themselves where donations go, as they took a CMA mission trip to Honduras last fall with Missionary Ventures (MVI). “We saw first-hand how funds collected here are used to train indigenous pastors there, provide them with Bibles and supplemental teaching materials, financially support their families if needed, and of course, furnish them with motorcycles so that they can spread the good news to the ‘white fields’ (John 4:35: Jesus said, Behold…lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.)

“Our mission team presented motorcycles to eight pastors in various remote areas; these pastors had mostly walked to visit home churches they were establishing in tribal areas. Many had three and four different villages they pastored monthly, requiring them to travel a significant number of miles. Seeing the pastors’ joy and hearing their praise to the Lord for answering their prayers as they were presented with a motorcycle, brought tears to every eye.

“In addition, we saw how MVI worked with local churches to establish, and stock, feeding centers in remote areas, provide building materials and construction expertise to build churches, and helped construct and staff Christian schools.”

“This is just one of the international partners, the others are doing similar work,” Jean said. “God is really using donations to RFS to accomplish His work and win more souls for His Kingdom. Larry and I were so blessed to have viewed first hand, the results and on-going outreach in Honduras.
