PHOTO BY JOHN GALBREATH | STANWOOD/CAMANO NEWS In a week perhaps unprecedented in local high school golf annals, the Spartan linksters won two successive matches with an allout effort that saw some fine golfing by Stanwood’s boys.

It began on the home course at Kayak Point last Monday afternoon.

Senior Paige Kavanagh posted a nice round of 81 over the 18-hole, par 72 course to lead his fellow Spartans to a five-man combined total of 442 strokes, four better than Snohomish and 19 better than Everett’s Cascade High.

Joining Kavanagh were Drew Pollock with an 85, Reece Esary with 90, Justin Simmons (93) and John Thayer (93).

Two days later Reece Esary earned medalist honors against the visiting Everett Seagulls as he toured the Kayak Point course in just 81 strokes. Stanwood won the team competition 424- 449.

John Thayer finished just one stroke short of Esary with an 82, Justin Simmons had an 84 while Paige Kavanagh (85) and Drew Pollock (92) closed out the Spartan scoring.
