A military wedding

Lance Corporal Kristin Irene Pala, Reservist, USMC and Corporal Darren Lee Hardebeck, USMC, were married March 21 at American Legion Post 92 in Stanwood. Their parents are Ed and Nancy Pala of Sevierville, , and Doreen Hardeback of Camano Island and the late Kevin Hardebeck.
Three Legion officers, dressed in the American Legion uniforms, greeted guests as they arrived. They were Commander Terry Hislop, Ernest Blackburn, 2nd vice commander, and Jerry Will, chaplin.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore her Marine Corps dress blue uniform, as did the groom. Danny Albaugh, a friend of the groom, performed the service. Lynette “Nikki” Hardebeck, the groom’s sister, and Brandon Carlisle, best friend, were their attendants.
A dinner followed the wedding in the legion hall. Their honeymoon will be postponed temporarily while the groom finishes his deployment in Okinawa, Japan. Their first home will be at Camp Pendelton, Calif. in October, with their daughter, Nevaeh Nicole Hardebeck.

The bride graduated from William Friend School in Palatine, Ill. in 2006, and is currently employed at Olive Garden while taking online classes. She spends one weekend a month at the base. The groom attended Stanwood schools second- 10th grade, then graduated from Monroe in 2005. His position in the Marine Corps as a military occupational specialist, is in the communication department.
Both the bride and groom were deployed to Iraq in 2007, and both have had skydiving training, as well. Kevin spent some time in South Korea, and Kristin spent time in South Africa. The groom was promoted to Sergeant May 1 of this year.
