Frog Heaven by Karan Bush selected for art show poster

Karan Bush’s painting “Frog Heaven” will be featured on the poster for the Stanwood Camano Art Guild’s eighh annual Spring Art Show. The Camano artists was selected for this honor for the second year in a row. Last year her painting, “Yellow Magnolias” was selected. Primarily a painter of still life, wildlife and floral subjects, Karan Bush gets much of her inspiration from area wildlife, her travels and her own gardens surrounding her island home.

Her painting, “Frog Heaven” will be featured on the poster of the upcoming Spring Art Show presented by the Stanwood - Camano Arts Guild.

“The inspiration for this painting was the lovely Hachmann’s Charmant rhododendron blossoms with the delicate red rim around each flower petal that blooms in my side yard garden,” Bush said.

“They are amazing to see. My painting process is very slow often taking up to six weeks to complete and because most of my painting subjects have a very short life, I work primarily from my own photographs.”

She is thankful that digital cameras of today allow her to take lots of reference photos from which she works.

The eighth annual Spring Art Show opens with a patrons’ party 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 4, and the show is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 5 and 6, at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center in the historic west end of Stanwood on Saturday

Daily admission is free and patrons’ party tickets are $8 at the door or may be purchased in advance for $5 at Gallery by the Bay in Stanwood’s east end.
