Softball squad moves closer to post-season berth

Two meets in two days challenged the SHS boys’ track team’s stamina but head coach Jordan Sneva was pleased with the efforts of his track athletes during Thursday’s tri-meet with Lake Stevens and Arlington and Friday’s first-ever Clash of the Counties in Mount Vernon. Full Story
Spartan nine position team for post-season run
Two key victories over Cascade High School early last week and another one over Snohomish’s Panthers on Friday moved the Spartan baseball team into contention for a possible district berth.
The Sparts and Oak Harbor have the same league record (6 wins, 9 losses), but the Wildcats hold the trump card after taking the season series 2-0 in head-to-head games. Full Story

Stanwood High School’s boys’ soccer club (7-6-2, 23 points) dropped into fifth place in the WesCo 4A North Division after a pair of shutout losses to Lake Stevens and Arlington last week. Full Story

Fourth in state competition
The sports medicine team of Stanwood High School captured fourth place at the state gathering of the Washington Vocational Sports Medicine Association (WVSMA) recently.
The WVSMA is a studentled organization designed to introduce students to a variety of sports medicine professions while providing leadership and educational opportunities. Full Story
Golfers compete in WesCo tri-meet and Everett invite
Stanwood golfers competed in a tri-meet with Arlington and Lake Stevens last Tuesday and then participated in the Everett Invite at Legion Memorial Golf Course on Thursday.
The boys’ 424 strokes were the third best total in the tri-meet, which Arlington won with 396 strokes. Lake Stevens posted a score of 409. Full Story
Lady Sparts 4x400 realy wins
The Lady Spartan track and field team competed in two different meets last Thursday and Friday. They hosted the first competition as Arlington and Lake Stevens visited Spartan stadium, and then took part in the first Clash of the Counties meet in Mount Vernon the next day. Full Story
Tennis team WesCo North’s best after three more wins
Even though Stanwood’s tennis coaches intermixed their players during the course of three Western Conference 4A North matches last week, the local lasses prevailed by out-hitting Oak Harbor (4-3), Snohomish (5-2) and Cascade (5-2). As a result, the Lady Sparts remain atop the division with a 12-1 record. Full Story
