My mother was amazing. As are, or were, many of your mothers. Especially if they came from the Great Depression era and lived in rural areas. They worked their fingers to the bone during the week and sang in the choir on Sunday. They could take ticks out of a dog’s hide, chase down a chicken to butcher for supper, and sew up a dress out of feed sack material—all in the same day. Full Story

SHS Envirothon teams score top three slots at regional event
Three teams of students from Stanwood High School scored top honors at the Northwest Regional Envirothon at Warm Beach Camp and Conference Center April 22.
Hosted by Snohomish Conservation District, the competition challenge students on their knowledge of soils, wildlife, forestry, aquatics and an environmental issue. This year’s issue was groundwater. Full Story
