MARK SmITh

OCTObER 1957 - ApRIL 20, 2010

Mark Smith was born in Webster City, Iowa, to Merlyn and JoAnne Smith.

He leaves his wife of 20 years, Yolanda, and daughter Jaci and son Ben.

Mark is also survived by his mother, JoAnne, older brother Greg, two sisters Jodi and Paula, and a huge extended family who love him dearly and will miss him with all their hearts.

A welder and pile buck by trade, there wasn’t anything Mark couldn’t build, or any material he couldn’t master. He built his family two different homes, and remodeled two others.

He loved big machines, the fire pit, and roasting oysters on the half shell.

Mark was so dearly loved by so many because he was kind, honest, and loved to help anyone he could. He accepted everyone as his friend without prejudice or pretense.

Mark died while working in Iraq. He was building a dock near Camp Bucca.

Mark’s family has chosen his beloved shop at their home at 14601 Riverbend Road, Mount Vernon, as the most fitting place for his memorial service on May 1, 1 p.m, followed by a graveside service at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, 17666 Valentine Road, Mount Vernon, and a reception at the family home.
