Friday Nite Food ‘n Family Fun Fest is Fri, April 30, 5 to 8 p.m. at the historic Camano City Schoolhouse, built in 1905. “Save Our Schoolhouse” capital campaign kickoff and fundraiser is to acquire, preserve and restore the schoolhouse, located on the Saratoga Passage side of Camano Island. Soup ‘n savory snacks, supper and decadent desserts bake sale. One price feeds one or a family of five.

Learn how to save energy around home

Dick Kent, who has been involved with solar energy since 1992, and living with solar energy for all his electrical needs, will show how to measure and record base energy load Wed, April 28, 7 p.m. at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Drive. Sponsored by the WSU Island County Beach Watchers Fourth Wednesday Information Series. He will also show ways to reduce energy consumption and alternative systems that help reduce the energy demand in your home.

Mark calendar for insurance seminar

Sat, May 29 10 to 11 a.m., at Four Springs Lake Preserve, a onehour, free, no obligation seminar will be held on the pros and cons of long term care insurance. Call Dick Hepburn, 387-6665, to register.

R ummage and plant sale next Friday

There will rummage sale with boutique, home and fashion sections, plus a parking lot plant sale, Fri, April 30, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sat, May 1, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Camano Island Yacht Club is located on the west side of Camano Island, 129 N. Sunset Drive.

Fire Chief Mike Ganz speaker

Camano Island Fire Chief, Mike Ganz will be the guest speaker for the Camano Island Women’s Republican Club April luncheon Tues, April 27, noon. A short business meeting will be held, and interested ladies are welcomed. Location is the Lost Lake Community Center, 1469 West Lake Drive, Camano.

Annual MOPS auction with dinner “Down to Earth” is the theme for the 20th annual MOPS auction at Camano Chapel Fri, April 23, with doors opening at 5 p.m. Silent and live auctions, pasta dinner catered by the Olive Garden, with tickets available at the door. The chapel is located at 867 S. West Camano Drive.

AARP Safe Driving program offered

An AARP Driver Safety Program will be held at Camano Senior and Community Center Thurs, May 5, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring a brown bag lunch if you wish. The program is for 55+, set up to help folks enhance their safe driving skills. Bring your current driver’s license with you. There is a small fee for instructional materials.

Spring storytime hosted by library

Ready Readers Spring Storytime at Camano Island Library offers stories, songs and crafts for preschoolers and toddlers. Children and families welcome. Fridays, 10:30 a.m., until May 28 at 848 N. Sunrise Blvd.; 387-5150.

Plant sale benefits fire department

Sat, April 24, 9 a.m. to noon, the Mabana Flames is holding a plant sale at the Mabana Fire Station to benefit volunteer firefighters. Hanging baskets, perennials, annuals, tomato and vegetable starts, basket fillers, etc will be for sale. There will be raffles for a garden basket, artwork by island artists, and a bake sale. Mabana Fire station is located five miles south of the Elger Bay Store at 3651 S. Camano Dr, Camano Island.

Line dancing begins at County Club

Dance to Latin, oldies, pop, Irish, rap, country and more. Open to the public, drop-in and try a class for free. Starts every four weeks beginning May 4 and again June 1, Tues, 6 p.m. at Camano Country Club, 1243 S. Beach Drive.
