OCTOBER 26, 1917 - ApRIL 10, 2010

Robert “Bob” L. White, age 92, was born October 26, 1917 on a homestead near Zurich, Montana, and he passed away April 10, 2010.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, mother and father Francis and Grover White, and sisters Dorothy Gardner and Eleanor Johnson.

Bob is survived by his daughter Barbara L White, son David R. White, brother William (Bill) and wife Anna Rose (Rosie), sister-in-law Virginia Peterson (George), brother-in-law Robert Seabury (Betty Jean), special niece Pam White, numerous nieces and nephews, and his best friend Lucy, his dog.

Bob moved with his family from Montana to Everett in 1923. He worked for the Great Northern Railway for two years and the Boeing company for a short time before he was called for duty by the U.S. Army. He spent 42 months in the service with 40 of them overseas. He was placed in Signal Corps Aviation at Hamilton Field in Calif. and was sent to Australia, where his company was General MacArthur’s message center, later called Far East Air Force Signal Battalion. He spent 20 months in Australia and island hopped through New Guinea, Leyte, Manila and Okinawa for another 13 months.

Bob was honorably discharged in October 1945 and went to work for the West Coast Telephone Company in Everett, later transferring to Stanwood as a station man for 18 years.

Here, he met and married Marjorie L. Seabury on April 6, 1952. They moved to the Warm Beach area, where Bob resided for the rest of his life. They had two children and thoroughly enjoyed life on the beach.

Bob transferred to Mount Vernon in 1970 for another 12 years as a special apparatus technician and retired in 1982 from the General Telephone Company, now Verizon.

Also during these years, Bob was a volunteer fireman for the Warm Beach Volunteer Fire Department for many years.

Bob did a lot of traveling with family in his RV trailer, including three trips to Alaska and all over the U.S. He was an avid model railroader and built many layouts in and outside of his home. He loved photography, walking on the beach, playing on the computer, watching sports on TV, having friendships with all the neighbors and loving his many pets throughout his life.

He will be greatly missed.

At Bob’s request there will be no funeral services.

Private family graveside services will be held in the Anderson Cemetery, Stanwood.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held soon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks friends who would like to honor Bob, to honor his great love for animals, especially dogs, to donate time or money or rescue a pet at a local animal shelter.

Arrangements under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood.
