Joyce Bethel was born August 12, 1930 in Council Grove, Kansas and she died April 16, 2010.
At the age of 16 she moved with her family to Garden City, Kansas, where she attended high school and met her future husband, Edward Bethel.
She owned a cake shop in Santa Fe, N.M. and enjoyed her work making cakes for weddings and other occasions. She volunteered her services at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, and later, at a senior center in Stanwood.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Mount Vernon.
She leaves behind husband Edward, a daughter Chris Eitel of Kirksville, Mo., a son David and daughter in-law Deborah, grandsons Gabe Lopez and Jared Bethel, granddaughters Amber Sanchez and great grandchildren Hayley and Daniel Sanchez of Santa Fe.
A visitation will be held Wednesday April 21 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday April 22 at the First Christian Church, 900 Skagit St., Mount Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Mount Vernon.
Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
