Operation clean sweep
Stanwood’s citywide clean up day, “Operation Clean Sweep,” plans to make this place sparkle, with the help of the community from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 8.
Jointly sponsored by the city of Stanwood, Design Stanwood and Waste Management, residents and business people are asked to join this annual rite of spring. Local churches and faith organizations are also encouraged to join in this community effort and volunteer organizations are encouraged to ask their members to help.
Volunteers will be spreading out all over town, clearing yards, picking up trash, and getting rid of unsightly debris.
All helpers are asked to check in at the old Thrifty Foods parking lot anytime between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 8.
The city will provide trash bags and Waste Management is donating trash bins, a green waste bin and a metal recycle bin for all the debris collected during the day.
