Man arrested on conspiracy to kill Snohomish county deputies

Michael McConnachie, 19, was charged last Wednesday with conspiracy to commit first-degree assault.

The 19-year-old man was arrested last Sunday after a burglary suspect told police McConnachie was looking for someone to help him kill deputies. He remains in jail on $350,000 bail.

In the south Everett motel where they arrested Mc- Connachie, police found bulletproof vests, ammunition and guns, including a handgun stolen from a Lake Stevens police officer’s home last year. Investigators believe McConnachie envisioned an attack similar to the Lakewood officer killings.

McConnachie denied that he was actually planning to hurt anyone, but Rebecca Hover, spokeswoman for Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, said detectives believe his threats went beyond thoughtless chatter. They are taking the investigation very seriously, she said.

April 30 is the prosecutor’s deadline for filing charges in Superior Court.
