PHOTO BY JEREMIAH O As detectives continue investigating the April 10 wreck that killed 17-yearold Ellen Floyd, a memorial stands in her honor at the crash site, near the intersection of Old 99 North and 300th Street NW.

Floyd was thrown from the convertible Mustang and died on the scene, of head injuries.

A young man, whom NEWS sources identified as Garrett Turski, 19, was found in the vehicle’s trunk.

Turski was transported to Providence Medical Center’s Colby Campus, where he was treated and released two days later, on April 12, said a spokeswoman in the hospital’s medical records department.

Records show Turski graduated last year from Saratoga School, a Stanwood Camano School District home school cooperative.

Rebecca Hover, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, said investigators believe speed was a factor.

Hover also said they have “solid evidence” that Turski was driving the car two to three minutes before the wreck, which happened about 4 a.m., April 10.
