1890, Nicolai Bernhard Thomle and wife Emilie arrived in Stanwood from Norway; he was born in 1843 and graduated from agriculture school in Lilehammer before coming to America, where he bought the homestead of James Kathbert two miles southeast of town.

Camano Island fire auxiliaries raise funds
Thanks to the generous donations of Camano Island fire department auxiliaries, island residents attending meetings or functions at their local fire stations will have access to potentially life saving technology.
